Special Screening: O Brother, Where Art Thou?

(11/1/10) CTBA celebrates the 10th anniversary of the film that inspired a revival of bluegrass/old-time music with a special screening of O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Saturday, November 6, 3-6 PM, at Alamo Drafthouse South. Some of Austin's finest bluegrass players will perform live. An instrument donated by Fiddler's Green Music Shop will be raffled off to benefit HAAM, the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians. Come on out for food, drinks, film, music, and a good cause!


2nd Annual Pickin' in the Park

(10/17/10) Fiddler's Green Music Shop, The Central Texas Bluegrass Association, and Austin Friends of Traditional Music host the 2nd Annual Pickin' in the Park at the Polo Tables Picnic Site in Zilker Park, Sunday, October 24, 12-4 PM. All styles of tradional music are welcome. Bring your instruments! Hot dogs, veggie dogs, chips and soft drinks provided.


5th Annual Austin String Band Festival

(10/10/10) Austin Friends of Traditional Music and KOOP radio, 91.7FM, host Austin's friendliest up and coming String Band Festival Fri-Sun, Oct. 15th-17th at Camp Ben McCulloch in Driftwood. Bring your instruments for jams. Camp overnight. Attend instrument and vocal workshops. Enjoy an excellent line-up of local and touring string bands including: The Ben Hodges Band, The Carper Family, Atomic Duo, Jim Kweskin & Geoff Muldaur and The Haint.


Annual Membership Meeting

(9/23/10) CTBA is alive and growing! Don't miss our annual meeting this Sunday at Artz from 2-3. Your input and participation makes Bluegrass Music happen in Central Texas. Guitar Workshop with Jim Hurst

(9/16/10) Come on out to Artz this Sunday and get an inspired tune-up with a super talented, globally touring professional flatpicker. Jim Hurst is giving two workshops, 2-3:15 and 3:30-5 PM


15th Annual Band Scramble & Garage Sale

(7/7/10) Big thanks to all participants! 39 musicians came out to form 6 bands, and together we raised almost $1,100! This money will help benefit our scholarship recipients. Thanks also go out to all garage sale donors, shoppers, listeners, and of course the friendly staff at Artz Rib House.

Annual Members Meeting - Saturday, May 9, 3:30-4:30 @ ArtZ, 2330 S. Lamar, Austin

(04/09/09) CTBA members are invited to attend our annual meeting to install a new Board of Directors. Tom Duplissey was elected by the current board to replace John Hood who resigned. Tom has agreed to serve as President. Board members continuing to serve are Russell Gunn, Mike Montgomery and Ken Brown. The CTBA nominating committee has recommended five new board members who have agreed to serve if elected: Jami Hampton, Ben Buchanan, Carrie Thielemann, Sam Dunn, Billy Bright.


New Bluegrass Radio Show Airs in Dallas-Ft Worth

(04/07/09) The Bluegrass Heritage Foundation and Dallas-Fort Worth radio station KHYI-FM 95.3 The Range, seek feedback for the new Bluegrass Heritage Radio Show. The show airs Sundays 10:30-12:00PM. Outside DFW, stream at www.khyi.com.
